Survivor features massive changes to combat and lightsabers

Star Wars Jedi: Survivor It will feature a host of new gameplay mechanics that help deepen the combat and introduce a layer of strategy. Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order It was released in 2019 and was an instant hit. Not only was it a commercial success, but it was received very favorably by fans and critics alike. It was the first single-player driven Star Wars game Star Wars fans have seen in nearly a decade and was enhanced by truly satisfying gameplay that felt fresh and immersive. It was the perfect storm, especially after EA didn’t release a ton of Star Wars games and notably ignored the single-player genre with its IP.

After all this success, it looks like Respawn Entertainment is looking to inject a lot of new ideas into the sequel, Star Wars Jedi: Survivor. As part of a The preview viewed by Game InformerHowever, a host of new information about the sequel has been revealed including new situations. Attitudes will play a pivotal role in combat and will change the way you fight. There are five stances in the game and it will be up to the player to decide which stance to use based on the enemy he is fighting. One would allow Cal Kestis to wield a two-sided blade, another would see Cal wield a blaster in one hand and a lightsaber in the other, and there’s even a heavy stand with a crossed lightsaber, like Kylo Ren. Game director Stig Asmussen told Game Informer how important this was to the game and the story.

“It really speaks to where we find Cal in this part of the story,” says Asmussen. β€œIt’s been five years since the first game, and the dark times are still afoot. He’s an unconventional Jedi, and he has to do unconventional things. So, something that might piss him off during the height of the Jedi Order? He’ll do whatever it takes.”

As of now, we have no idea about the other two situations. However, it seems like this would be one way to make the combat look varied. You will not be able to block or swing wildly to skip a combat scenario, you will have to analyze the situation to see what works best.
